Program Areas
American Communities Trust supports efforts that improve the lives of underserved residents in low-income urban communities and expand the opportunities and resources available to them. ACT focuses on a specific Program Areas in each community where we work, directing our resources to support organizations and programs that have a proven track record of meeting the needs of underserved populations.
We are most interested in providing support for non-profits working in the following three Program Areas:
Education: Education shapes the mind, influences character and effects the social and economic well-being of communities. With that in mind, American Communities Trust supports educational programs and initiatives that make a positive difference in the lives of low-income children and adults, with a focus on increasing access to learning, expanding educational resources, and promoting new opportunities and experiences.
Workforce Development: Workforce development is the coordination of education, business, and public policies and programs that benefit individuals, employers and communities. American Communities Trust supports programs which help train workers and provide a path to job pla cement. Our priority is to help residents of low-income and underserved communities develop in-demand job skills and increase their chances of long-term employment.
Health & Nutrition: Across the United States communities now realize that access to fresh food, affordable health care, and local agricultural production are changing the lives of low-income families and individuals for the better. American Communities Trust is interested in supporting programs and organizations that increase access to fresh and healthy food, provide nutrition education and resources to underserved populations, improve access to health care, promote healthy lifestyles, and create economic opportunities around food and health related industries.
